This seminar, specially designed for junior professors, tenure-track professors and junior research group leaders, provides a comprehensive overview of the specific legal relationships, rights and duties as well as the special service tasks. However, the seminar also focuses on individual design elements, such as evaluation or interim evaluation, as well as questions of a possible tenure track procedure. In addition, the seminar also deals with the design of tenure-track professorships, particularly in accordance with the federal programme.

Part I: Legal relationships of junior professors, tenure track professors and junior group leaders

    Special status of junior professors and tenure-track professors at the university
    Special labour law issues of junior research group leaders
    Freedom of instruction, independence and autonomy
    Residence obligation, presence obligation
    Holidays and business trips
    Special features of working time
    secondary employment law
    Disciplinary aspects
    Rights and duties as a line manager
    Scientific misconduct


Part II: Official duties

    Service task research / freedom of research
    Service task teaching / freedom of teaching and its limits
    Other duties: Examination right, self-administration, promotion of junior staff


Part III: Perspectives and individual design elements

    Evaluation or interim evaluation
    Tenure Track, Tenure Track Option
    Design of tenure-track professorships (in particular in accordance with the federal programme)
    Appeal under waiver of invitation to tender and domiciliary appointment
    Career prospects and basic features of possible appointment negotiations
