The aim of YIN is to support Junior Research Group Leaders (JRGL) and Junior Professors at the KIT. The core tasks that define YIN are:
- providing and fostering a network for junior research group leaders and Junior Professors
- institutionalizing a lobby inside the KIT for Junior Research Group Leaders with staff responsibility and Junior Professors
- providing a dedicated professional development and education program for JRGLs and JPs
- serving as a representation platform and supporting PR
Junior Research Group Leaders and Junior Professors who have obtained their own Junior Research Group in a formal selection procedure (inside or outside the KIT) and who have personnel responsibility for at least one TVL13 position are eligible for YIN membership.
Examples are:
- Leader of Young Investigator Groups (YIG)
- Leader of (Shared) Research Groups (RG, SRG)
- Helmholtz-Junior Research Group Leaders
- Heisenberg-scholarship holders
- Emmy Noether- Junior Research Group Leaders
- Persons, who obtained the "own position" e.g. by the DFG (with personnel responsibility)
- CFN- Junior Research Group Leaders
- ERC Starting Independent Research Grant Awardees
- European Young Investigator Award Holders (EURYI)
- Elite-Program of the Landesstiftung BW
- Junior-Professorship holders
- Liebig- scholarship holders (Young University teachers) of the fund of the Chemical Industry
- KIT- Junior Research Group Leaders
- Group Leaders with personnel responsibility, own position payed by the institute, position needs to be temporary
